Overbased Calcium Sulfonates display strong attraction to surfaces during metal removal and metal forming operations, and react to provide strong films that impart extreme pressure, anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties. Fatty acids derived from castor oil such as Ricinoleic Acid are commonly used in metalworking fluids as they provide corrosion inhibition, improve emulsion stability and enhance lubricity. Polyricinoleic Acid is a polymer of ricinoleic acid and is used in formulations of metalworking fluids as a biodegradable, environmentally-friendly replacement for mineral base oils.

Phosphate Esters are well-known multifunctional additives. They provide excellent emulsion stability, good antiwear performance and staining inhibition. Surfactants / Emusifiers
EO/PO Block Copolymers provide a broad range of physical properties that make them versatile, low-foam nonionic surfactants used in the formulation of synthetic metalworking lubricants. Imidazolines may be incorporated into lubricants for metalworking where they will function as emulsion stabilizers, corrosion inhibitors and lubricity enhancers.
